Please understand that, due to the wide range of multi, single or half days, the number of people in a group, their equipment and experience level it is very difficult to simply have a set ‘price list’ for everything. To give you some idea of the likely cost, below are examples of the ‘standard’ prices of services. 

GUIDING & COACHING – 2023

Normally I would limit coaching for absolute beginners to a maximum of to three clients, but this may be negotiable. The maximum number of clients for boat or saltwater fly fishing is two. Equipment, hot drinks and home baking included but please bring your own lunch! Additional fees for trout permits (from £7.50 per person per day) boat hire (from £15 per day) and engine hire ( from £20 per day) should they be used. Prices for local salmon beats can be quoted upon request.

Guiding & Coaching

Full Day (around eight hours): £230 for first client and £50 p.p. for any further clients – Deposit £100

Half Day (around four hours): £135 for first client and £30 p.p. for any further clients* – Deposit £60

Three-quarters Day (around six hours): £205 for first client and £45 for any further clients – Deposit £75

Extended Day (ten hours plus): £295 for first client and £75 p.p. for any further clients – Deposit £150

Multi-day bookings require a 50% deposit.

* Due to high demand in May and June I can only accept advance bookings for Full Days and Extended Days for these months. The only exception to this is for family bookings, with one or more of the participants being under 16 years old.

Family groups – The standard daily rates apply and all under 18s are free but there must be at least one adult in the group. Normally there is a maximum of three under 18s per booking but this will depend on the composition of the group.

Half Day bookings will be conducted within 15 miles of the village of Lochinver. If you are looking to explore deeper into the Assynt wilderness an Extended day will more than likely be required to maximise fishing time.

FLY FISHING SAFARI

There are significant variables in organising a camping expedition, so it is definitely best to get in touch to discuss the options for a completely accurate costing, without obligation.

Safaris can be either ‘Expedition’ style, with everything on our backs or ‘Wilderness Glamping’ in a wonderful bell tent, complete with wood burning stove, home cooking and comfortable chairs!

The ‘Wilderness Glamping Safari’ has a two night minimum.

Dinner, breakfast, hot drinks and snacks included but lunches are not included as standard.

Additional fees will apply for permits and possible access options (boat, Argocat, horse or even helicopter!)

EXAMPLE SAFARI COSTS

‘Expedition’ single night Safari, starting at 14:00 and finishing at 14:00

1x Full Day 1x Half Day, 1x Overnight – £445 for first client + £130 p.p. for any further clients (£25 for under 16s)

‘Wilderness Glamping’ two night Safari, starting and finishing at 14:00

1x Full Day, 1x Extended Day, 1x Half Day, 2x Overnight £780 for first client + £355 p.p. for any further clients (£50 for under 16s)

Safaris require a 50% deposit.

FLY CASTING COACHING (usually after 17:00)

Two Hour Full Introduction to Fly Fishing – £80 for up to 2 clients, additional clients £20 up to a maximum of 4

Discount on the hire costs of equipment following any coaching session -£5 per person, per day

FLY TYING (usually after 17:00)

Recommended maximum two persons, maximum four (also meaning a longer session)

Two Hours – £55

Additional Hours – £25 (needs not be consecutive but two hour minimum applies)

Equipment hire following Introductory Session – £15 per day

FLY FISHING CONSULTANCY (usually after 17:00)

£30 (one hour)

FLY FISHING ITINERARY SERVICE

Can include:
Written advice on suitable lochs / Provision of maps / Route planning for multi-day fly fishing trips / Bookings of permits & boats / Accommodation advice / Wild camping advice

DEPOSIT REFUND POLICY

For cancellation at more than three calendar months from the agreed date there will be a full refund of your deposit (less any fees incurred by Assynt Fly Fishing).
For cancellation at more than two but less than three calendar months from the agreed date there will be a 50% refund of your deposit (less any fees incurred by Assynt Fly Fishing).
For cancellation at more than twenty-eight days but less than two calendar months from the agreed date there will be a 25% refund of your deposit amount (less any fees incurred by Assynt Fly Fishing).
For cancellation at less than twenty-eight days from the agreed date there will be no refund of your deposit.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Should your booking not be able to take place due to Covid, you will be entitled to a full refund of your deposit or take the option to leave the deposit stading against a future booking that will be charged only at the rate agreed at time of booking, regardless of when it is undertaken. However, certified proof of the reason for cancellation will need to be provided, such as a medical certificate or cancellation notice from your travel provider/agent.
