This is a fairly unique service, born from not only requests from clients but also from how I might approach a fishing area that is new to me and I have only limited time (and funds!) Basically, this is a good chat over a coffee, some home baking and maps of the local area that will give you a good insight into the fishing.
Covering all aspects of your proposed fishing expeditions – where to get your permits and book boats, where to park the car, the best walking approach routes, the best spots on specific lochs, useful tactics, flies and tackle. This will greatly assist the experienced angler in minimising time lost in wading through bogs, stumbling into water-filled knee-twisting tree planting holes and of course that nagging feeling that “Maybe I should have gone to that loch and not this one!” or the ever-present “Is this the best fly for this loch?”
I could not, and would not, attempt to impart my thirty-plus years of knowledge into our one meeting, I’ve got to keep some aces up the sleeve! But I would make sure that you have more than enough information to see you through your visit and onto many more fruitful explorations into the wilds of Assynt!
The Assynt Fly Fishing Itinerary Service is similar to a Consultancy, in that you will receive a great deal of ‘insider information’ but this is really a ‘turnkey’ option – you simply turn up and fish! All of you and/or the group’s permits, boat, and engine hir can be arranged as required. The charge will vary on the number of aspects required but start from just £10 per day for a ‘Fishing Only’ itinerary.
